FunHouse Radio is owned and operated by “Wacky Alex”. My real name is too difficult to read and say unless you are a Ukrainian that can read Hungarian for some reason. Trust me on that one.
A frustrated friend once dubbed me “Wacky Vulaky”. I decided to keep the Wacky.
The FunHouse format is pretty much something I came up with for a radio production class at Oakland University in 1996.
My professor gave me an A for my final tape, noting that my unique style was entertaining. He called it “psychedelic”.
In 2019, I looked to see if anyone else was doing a novelties format and since I didn’t really find anything I decided that it was worth trying to do one.
Initially this operated as a non-profit with no commercials. Then, because of the PLSA, online broadcasting became illegal without a royalties license at the end of 2020. I was forced to stop doing the free station and rethink my path forward.
A few months later I contracted with Live365 to handle royalties. FunHouse Radio is now classified as a “for-profit” business in Minnesota. It’s not what I had first intended but it works.
You should also know that I am LGBTQ and Autistic. I also have partial blindness, GI and liver disease. As such it has been difficult for me hold down a day job. Please donate if you are able to do so.
