“Picnic In The Summertime” by Deee-Lite

June 1st is considered the first day of meteorological summer in North America. I think we could all use a picnic with a chill vibe right now. With DJ Towa switched out for ANI, we have a sequenced track in the style of 1970s classic soul.

The music and the video are as innocent as it gets. Let’s have a peaceful summer this year.

Picnic In The Summertime was released as a single and I have the CD version. If you wan’t a sealed copy on vinyl, it’s $60 and up on ebay.

What is your favorite unique thing to bring to a picnic? Let us know in the comments.

“Somebody Farted” by Bobby Jimmy & The Critters (pissing on MC Hammer)

Have you ever walked into someone’s bedroom and became immediately aware that they had been farting all night and they are badly in need of ventilation? That’s happened to me this morning.

Or maybe you got stuck in an elevator full of strangers and someone let a ripe stink bomb rip like chemical warfare. Perhaps you got stuck waiting in a long line and you really could not run away or risk embarrassing the random funky person. Or maybe you were like me and quietly rolled out a stench grenade while handing money to a poor cashier.

If you’ve had any experience with third party flatulence, you will find this track relatable. I remember hearing this on morning-drive radio while heading to high school back in 1990. It’s actually a quazi-parody of MC Hammer’s “Let’s Get It Started”. Compare for yourself!

“Somebody Farted” was released both on a 12″ EP and on a full length album. I happen to own the EP. Here’s a photo. The lead single was actually “Hair or Weave”. In my opinion “Somebody Farted” is a lot funner.

“Do The Swim” by Bobby Freeman

Hear the brilliant production of Sly Stone in this number one hit for Bobby Freeman. By late 1964, this track beat out The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Ventures, Jan & Dean and Dusty Springfield. You can already hear Sly Stone’s sound in the arrangement, instrumentation, and production.

The Swim was also a dance. Here is a video of Bobby miming the song while doing the dance. This appeared on a television show that year.

Today is National Learn To Swim Day. Needless to say, everyone should learn to swim. A swim instructor first teaches folks how to breath and float. These two things alone can save your life.

We’re using today as an occasion to turn on the summer music! This classic track is included! So tune in to the live stream to hear our summer tracks in the mix.

NSFW – “TANG (Never Went To The Moon)” by Jimi James

It’s hard to find something funny to be the song of the day for Earth Day, but I think we’ve got it!

Jimi James is a Flat-earther. This video is designed to convince the public that The Earth is flat. Don’t confuse him with legendary producer Jimmy Jam.

The orange flavored sugar drink named “Tang” was used by early NASA crewed space flights. In 1962, John Glenn conducted eating experiments in orbit. Tang was on the menu. It was then used on other missions.

Jimi James would beg to differ. He also wants to remind us that “tang” is a vulgar slang word for vagina.

The video is age-restricted on YouTube so follow this link to listen.

By the way, the astronaut seen on the image above is Buzz Aldrin, the second person to set foot on the moon. He thinks Tang sucks.

“Walk The Dinosaur” by Was (Not) Was

April 18 is National Velociraptor Awareness Day! The first velociraptor fossil was found in 1923. That’s not that long ago! It seems fairly odd to me that people had no awareness of the Tyrannosaurus until the Roaring Twenties.

The Dinosaur was a dance step that people did in the 1980s. One could WALK The Dinosaur and even KILL The Dinosaur.

The song “Walk The Dinosaur” reached No. 7 on the US chart in 1989, two years after hitting No. 10 in the UK. It became the biggest hit single for Was (Not) Was in the USA. It’s certainly not the band’s best track in my opinion, but it’s good fun.
