Do you have a steady job? Are you sure? Aren’t we all temps? Aren’t we all disposable? This writer has worked so many different jobs in his adult life that it’s not even funny. It sucked most of the time.
Insane Ian captures this rage. It cuts both ways. Sure it’s a parody. It’s Comedy. It’s also harsh reality. I’m going to have to rejoin the workforce despite having a number of disabilities and off course it’s hard out there for a temp.
This track is off his recent album, Illinoise, available on BandCamp.
Is this another example of Mandela Effect? When I was a kid, nobody ever referred to this group as Fat Boys. It was alwaysThe Fat Boys. What Gives?
But seriously, today is National Eat What You Want Day and I can’t think of a better FunHouse Radio track to share than this one.
The song was recorded for use in the movie Krush Groove. The entire music video appeared within the movie. The film tells a fictional story based on the early days of Def Jam Records. It is now considered a Hip-Hop culture classic.
Of course the movie was accompanied by a soundtrack compilation album. My best friend had the LP and I was lucky enough to be allowed to make a cassette tape copy on his dad’s stereo. Hooray!
There was some great stuff on there. “Radio” by LL Cool J and “King Of Rock” by Run D.M.C. were the TOP JAMS back in the day. “Tender Love” by (The) Force MDs was soon played at every high school dance in urban America. “She’s On It” by (The) Beastie Boys seemed like a bonus track cut from the smash hit Licensed to Ill album. Plus you got Chaka Khan, Sheila E, Debbie Harry and (The) Gap Band. Kurtis Blow produced much of the music. It’s a lot.
Today is Cinco De Mayo. Despite being Mexican in origin, the occasion is celebrated mostly in the United States. It’s become something like a Mexican St Patrick’s day. Just like St Patrick’s Day, you get to drink alcohol while trying on someone else’s culture; or perhaps celebrating your own.
In the nation of Mexico the yearly occurrence is hardly an occasion to celebrate. To them it’s about as exciting as Founder’s Day is to Americans. Have you even heard of Founder’s Day? It’s on November 28.
So in a way, the holiday itself has been “framed”. Enjoy the track!
Can you think of other occasions on our calendar that are excuses to drink and play ethnic?
Attention über-dorks! It’s finally here! Every May 4th, we celebrate Star Wars Day. May The FORTH be with you!
The day has been observed unofficially since the 80s, but in 2011, a group of fans in Toronto held the first organized event. The event included an Original Trilogy Trivia Game Show, a costume contest, fan- films, mash-ups, parodies, and remixes. In 2012, Disney purchased Lucasfilm and now the holiday is celebrated at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
Bad Lip Reading is an anonymous music and video producer who intentionally lip-reads video clips poorly for laughs. They then go on to produce music to go with the nonsensical lip-reads.
There are endless musical production that touch on Star Wars. Maybe I should do a top 10 list. As it stands this would be the number one track on that list.
Remember, There is no “try”. Do or do not.

PS: The image used at the top of this page is a still from Rogue One.
It’s been exactly 10 years since Sweet Brown, an Oklahoma City resident, became an internet sensation. People found her appearance on a news report to be endearing and entertaining. She was interviewed by a local TV station after evacuating her apartment building due to fire.
That report became a viral meme. In short order producers created dance tracks with auto-tuned samples from the news report. These too became music-memes. Below is one of the popular ones.
After the video was released, Brown became a minor celebrity. She stared in national commercials. She was on Comedy Central’s Tosh.0 and was even played by Queen Latifah in a skit for Jimmy Kimmel. Beyonce quoted her at the Superbowl. She reprized her interview in the movie Medea’s Christmas.
A ridiculous number of National Days are all being observed concurrently today. Spending an hour on each of them would eat up your entire day!
Buckle up, here we go!
Internationally it’s Jazz Day.
In the USA, we’ve got National Sarcoidosis Day, National Rebuilding Day, National Raisin Day and Oatmeal Cookie Day. Plus it’s also National Military Brats Day, Kiss of Hope Day, and Bubble Tea Day. It’s even National Bugs Bunny Day as well as National Adopt a Pet Day.
It’s Honesty Day as well, so please know that this is all indeed true.
All of these Days offer great themes for me to choose from in deciding on the song of the day. But wouldn’t you know it, we are actually observing yet another National Day today. That’s right. It’s National Sense of Smell Day.
The Dead Milkmen have a lot to say about smells.
The song first appeared on their album Beelzebubba in 1988.
Recently someone posted a karaoke version of this song. Since the ability to carry a tune is completely unnecessary to perform this song, I challenge everyone reading this to record themselves singing it.
Upload it to YouTube. Send me the link in the comments! Have a smell day!
It’s Friday and even if you are not a slut, maybe have a solo session. You’ve earned it.
Literally everyone loves to hate the song “Friday” by Rebecca Black. People hate it so much that the poor young lady has been bullied about it in real life. That’s not ok! What’s wrong with you people?
Rather than resort to violence, just make a YouTube video. Bart Baker claims on his YouTube channel that this is not a burn on Rebecca Black but we’ll let you be the judge.
The song is so terrible that even this parody making fun of the song is not listenable. If you make it passed the 1:00 mark than you are truly a wacky person and we are proud to have you as a listener. If not, thanks for trying.
By the way, if your daughter is too much of a slut for your taste, turn her on to FunHouse Radio. There is a good chance that her chastity will return after just 24 hours of listening.
This is a classic hip-hop track that I listened to as a kid back in the day. The idea that this is a story for children is a bit tongue in check. This is not Mother Goose. Kids living in tough neighborhoods, like I did, would need to hear this kind story. Other kids? I don’t know.
Listen closely near the end. You’ll hear a slowed down scream followed by a “yeah”. They become part of the rhythm and mimic a call and response vocal. These are samples from a classic James Brown record. Indeed they are the same samples used on “It Takes Two” by MC Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock.
Today is National Tell A Story Day. I can’t think of another track that is more appropriate. The official music video here does not track with the lyrics but it’s fun watch.
Is there a story you need to tell somebody today? Get to it.
